Economic development is a team sport.  Multiple entities play roles in the ED process and credit for the success of our region is to be shared equally among each of these players.  Each of these organizations is part of the Western Illinois team and we all cooperate in order to provide the best service we can to the Knox County Area business community.

 

Small Business Development Center at Western Illinois University

The SBDC is the “go-to” organization for entrepreneurs and small businesses in need of business planning or startup assistance.

 

Carl Sandburg College

Carl Sandburg College is the largest provider of customized training in our region.

 

The City of Galesburg

For those projects locating in Galesburg, the City of Galesburg is the place to contact regarding infrastructure, permits, and municipal utilities.

Ameren

Ameren Illinois is the electricity and natural gas distributor for the Knox County Area.  Ameren also has a region-wide economic development team that can assist with projects.

 

Galesburg Sanitary District

Established on November 14th, 1924, the Galesburg Sanitary District serves the City of Galesburg and East Galesburg.  Wastewater, collected from a distribution system of approximately 160 miles of sanitary sewer, enters the treatment plant through a 66″ influent sewer.  The plant is designed to provide a complete treatment for an average flow of 11 million gallons per day (MGD) and a maximum flow of 28 MGD.

 

Galesburg Area Vocational Center

Galesburg Area Vocational Center or GAVC for short is located at 940 W. Fremont St. in Galesburg, IL. Home to over eight programs in vocational learning, the GAVC allows students from all over Knox County the opportunity to learn skills and trades for their next step.
