Sometimes it can be easy to take for granted just how special Galesburg is for those of who live and work here, but I am struck constantly by the vibrant, innovative, and creative nature of our community. Few communities our size can boast the robust performing and creative arts culture we have in Galesburg or the range and quality of independent businesses bringing truly unique concepts, opportunities, and experiences to our town. Specifically, and in regard to my corner of the community, I am blown away by the incredible food scene we have in Galesburg. I am hard-pressed to think of similar communities who can boast a full-service independent natural foods grocer and a gourmet specialty shop, multiple outstanding international cuisines represented in our vibrant restaurant community, multiple artisan breweries, and such a wide variety of small-batch local bakers, makers, and food creators.
